Meet Wendy

People come to me seeking help with their moods, difficult life circumstances, marriages or children's difficulties. I have extensive experience and training in couples and family work, mood disorders, trauma, adjusting to chronic illness/injury, child acting out problems, grief and loss and neurodiverse populations (ADHD, LD and brain injury/conditions).

I am a Certified Emotionally Focused Therapist (EFT) for couples with specialties in EFT with individuals, families, ADHD, grief, diversity and trauma. I have over twenty-five years of experience in psychotherapy with children, youth, adults, couples and families, including almost twenty years as a Social Worker on the Neurology Program at The Hospital for Sick Children. I am trained in Watch Wait and Wonder, child-led play therapy for children ages 2 to 6. I can see clients anywhere in Ontario for online treatment. My post-graduate certification, ongoing continuing education, experience and the clinical supervision I have received allow me to provide psychotherapy following the standards of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and Controlled Acts Regulation under the Regulated Health Professionals Act, 1991.

I know deeply that seeing a therapist for such sensitive and important matters like marital distress, tough times with your child, feeling lost, down or having a hard time managing life can be daunting. Clients may fear being judged, blamed or devalued for the very human problems they are having. I do my very best to understand and accept all parts of my clients - even those they may not like - and to ensure that their strengths and struggles are seen and understood.

I would describe myself as big-hearted and big-brained. I have always seen the human behind the mask and the best in my clients. I laugh and love big! I am also a complete nerd in learning my craft and spend considerable time yearly to learn, grow and refine my skills and knowledge. I love being a Social Worker with our profession's social justice lens, so I also think about how the larger systems in which people live, work and study affect their sense of well-being, belonging and safety in the world.
